Red Fox is a Jamaican‑born, New York–raised dancehall and reggae artist known for his gritty vocal style, electrifying stage presence, and pioneering contributions to the genre. Rising from the mid‑’80s sound‑system era on LP International, he gained early acclaim through legendary clashes at the Biltmore Ballroom. His first official releases, including “Come Boogie Down” and the classic “Down in Jamaica,” established him as a standout voice in reggae.
Working with producers such as Peter Mckensie, Sting International and Phillip Smart, Red Fox broke into the mainstream with the hit “Pose Off,” leading to a deal with Elektra Records. His catalog includes major singles like “Bashment Party,” "Getto Gospel" “Born gain black man,” “Dem a murderer, ” “Brooklyn Swing,” and “Down in Jamaica,” and he is recognized as the first dancehall artist to perform on The Jay Leno Show. His work has helped bridge reggae and hip hop, with collaborations ranging from Brand Nubian to working with legendary hip hop producer ,DJ Premier.
A decorated artist with multiple awards and official proclamations from New York State, Red Fox continues to be a respected figure in the genre. Currently working on his third album, he is focused on conscious reggae, highlighted by recent releases such as “Give My Praise,” “Jamaica Love,” “The Vibe,” and “Good with Jah.”
